A feature article and cover designed for the first issue of a new travel magazine. The design needed to reflect the client's non-conformist origins and the issue’s theme of ‘unconventional travel'. The solution was to convey a zine aesthetic by combining found imagery with half-tone effects and other treatments inherent to print to make reference to the magazine's DIY beginnings.
Inspiration for the cover design and article layout was taken from old travel magazines and reference manuals. I applied a handcrafted treatment to the headlines and used old, found imagery to evoke the sense of a historical publication or bulletin.
This was a concept brief for a student project at Shillington College.
